When Ozzy Budden came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Vicenza Wanderers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ozzy Budden couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vince Riad in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tim Johnstone saved The Tigers from getting behind. Marc Ploughman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carl Downes in the 22nd minute of the match. After 25 minutes, Ozzy Budden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vicenza Wanderers and the The Tigers players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mitch Furniss struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Marc Ploughman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Tigers. Ozzy Budden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tim Johnstone stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vince Riad's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
