With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vince Riad in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gyuro Angeliev saved Ilfracombe from getting behind. Gyuro Angeliev was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Vince Riad capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vince Riad really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vince Riad made a kick off. After 54 minutes, Ron Sharples mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vicenza Wanderers and the Ilfracombe players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ilfracombe had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
