Hemel Hempstead's Buzid Zidane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Djabir Dziri in the 14th minute of play. Buzid Zidane stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafik Kouidri's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. When Djabir Dziri came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Congleton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Djabir Dziri couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Beddis Mediouna in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Buzid Zidane saved Hemel Hempstead from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beddis Mediouna in the 47th minute of play forced Hemel Hempstead's goalkeeper Buzid Zidane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Rachid Benchenaa made the kick off in the second half. Ismael Menia's late challenge caught a Hemel Hempstead's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ismael Menia helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Congleton:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hemel Hempstead:s goal. In the 61st minute Beddis Mediouna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Buzid Zidane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Tayeb Matmour hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Djabir Dziri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buzid Zidane having to interfere. Rachid Benchenaa succeeded in the game's 65th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. Buzid Zidane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beddis Mediouna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Djabir Dziri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buzid Zidane having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Beddis Mediouna in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buzid Zidane prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Beddis Mediouna kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. When Rachid Benchenaa came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Hemel Hempstead fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rachid Benchenaa couldn't finish the play. Ales Mammeri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Beddis Mediouna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Buzid Zidane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Congleton's Beddis Mediouna got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
