Fouhad Bensaïd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Zine-Eddine Hamdani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th minute, one of Barnsley:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Barnsley. The goalkeeper, Youssef Haddadj, was totally fooled by Cheltenham FC's Soltani Messis, who 8 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Boudjemaa Zane took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zine-Eddine Hamdani. Zine-Eddine Hamdani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 19th minute, Boudjemaa Zane made a precise shot to the right of Zine-Eddine Hamdani. Cheltenham FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Zine-Eddine Hamdani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fouhad Bensaïd in the 25th minute of play. Zine-Eddine Hamdani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fouhad Bensaïd, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A collision led to Barnsley getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Farès Brahimi hit a great ball. If Amzun Guerrache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 44 minutes, Amine Ben Khalidi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cheltenham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amine Ben Khalidi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Youssef Haddadj took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amine Ben Khalidi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fouhad Bensaïd to make the kick off. When Cheltenham FC's Amine Ben Khalidi in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Amzun Guerrache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Youssef Haddadj having to interfere. Amzun Guerrache recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Cheltenham FC fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when Cheltenham FC's Amzun Guerrache looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Barnsley's zone, Amzun Guerrache stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Youssef Haddadj came out of the goal and Amzun Guerrache tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Boudjemaa Zane got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amine Ben Khalidi in the 88th minute of play forced Barnsley's goalkeeper Youssef Haddadj to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Barnsley players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
