Khelifa Larbi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ghani Hadfi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abdellatif Baboudji fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Khelifa Larbi having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ghani Hadfi in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Khelifa Larbi saved Burnley from getting behind. Zizou Fillali showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Farid Reda, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Carlin How's goal looked a bit too open when Rachid Menad came free, but Zizou Fillali reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Rachid Menad came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Burnley fans jumped to their feet. Khelifa Larbi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carlin How. In the 40th minute, Rachid Menad got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Farid Reda in the 45th minute of play forced Carlin How's goalkeeper Zizou Fillali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
