A beautiful save bye St Austell's goalie prevented a goal. Mahmoud Benhamou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Giss Maghili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mahmoud Benhamou sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to St Austell getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Djamel Dridi hit a great ball. Zidan Mérah-Benida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Giss Maghili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stéphane Thabet in the 24th minute of play forced Hale's goalkeeper Islam Arouani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, Stéphane Thabet made a precise shot to the right of Islam Arouani. Hale's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Stéphane Thabet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to St Austell getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Moncef Badis hit a great ball. In the 34th minute Sofiane Dahar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Islam Arouani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 36 played minutes St Austell got a freekick which was hit by Mourad Nasro. Abdelnacer Mazigh, 37 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Yazid Mansouri struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Giss Maghili didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hale.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zidan Mérah-Benida was the one to do the kick off. If Sofiane Dahar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Islam Arouani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stéphane Thabet, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Giss Maghili took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mahmoud Benhamou, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zidan Mérah-Benida in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Giss Maghili saved St Austell from getting behind. After having played for 77 minutes, Mahmoud Benhamou managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mahmoud Benhamou was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Giss Maghili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mahmoud Benhamou, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. With a little luck, Hale's Islam Arouani got control of the ball when Sofiane Dahar tried to sneak it across the goal line. St Austell's Stéphane Thabet got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Stéphane Thabet reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Islam Arouani. The goal made the score 0-3. Stéphane Thabet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Islam Arouani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. The Hale supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching St Austell's performance. The match ended with a win for St Austell.
