Spectators: 6746 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1746, VIP seats: 0) Sunderland United's Bakki Djamel started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Ahmed Menguellet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hafs Zaghouane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Sunderland United booed when Staithes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hadi Aliche didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nabil Lelouch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zoheir Yachir in the 14th minute of play. Nabil Lelouch came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Sunderland United's Zoheir Yachir. But to his dismay, Zoheir Yachir quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Hafs Zaghouane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Idir Saâdani in the 30th minute of the match. Idir Saâdani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hafs Zaghouane having to interfere. Mebarek Belmadi hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Mehdi Meknassa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Idir Saâdani to make the kick off. After 54 minutes of play, Staithes's Idir Saâdani made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hafs Zaghouane was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hafs Zaghouane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Idir Saâdani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute, Zoheir Yachir fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Staithes's goalkeeper Nabil Lelouch, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hafs Zaghouane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Idir Saâdani in the 68th minute of play. Zoheir Yachir could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Nabil Lelouch made a huge save. If Zoheir Yachir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sunderland United booed when Staithes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mebarek Belmadi didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sunderland United players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Staithes.
