The referee ignored Sandown's protests and gave Krim Betroni a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sandown getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Krim Betroni hit a great ball. Mahmoud Dridi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Madin Abid in the 7th minute of play. In the 10thth minute of the game Yacine Khabatou who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sandown's Mahmoud Dridi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 11 played minutes Sandown got a freekick which was hit by Younes Ghazi. Yacine Khabatou sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Sandown's goal looked a bit too open when Yacine Khabatou came free, but Mahmoud Dridi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Madin Abid managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rye AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Madin Abid was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mahmoud Dridi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 23 played minutes Sandown got a freekick which was hit by Younes Ghazi. Madin Abid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, Krim Betroni got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bassi Zarabi shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Yacine Khabatou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Rye AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Achraf Hamruche fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Madin Abid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Mahmoud Dridi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Dylan Soumati stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abdelnasser El Ouazzani's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. 64 minutes into the match, Rye AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Achraf Hamruche came free, but Dylan Soumati reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abdelnasser El Ouazzani in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dylan Soumati saved Rye AFC from getting behind. Achraf Hamruche received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Dylan Soumati tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Younes Ghazi charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Younes Ghazi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sandown's Younes Ghazi got a free kick in the 77th minute. After 78 minutes, Rezki Saïd mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sandown and the Rye AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Krim Betroni in the 89th minute of play forced Rye AFC's goalkeeper Dylan Soumati to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dylan Soumati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Achraf Hamruche in the 94th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Toufik Hamyane during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 96th minute, Toufik Hamyane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Rye AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
