After some careless play in the Paignton AFC defense, Redouane Zidane kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boumedienne Kheyari. Zoheir Menad hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Redouane Zidane who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Boumedienne Kheyari when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Boumedienne Kheyari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdelnacer Meriem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abdelnacer Meriem's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Boumedienne Kheyari read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Stalybridge's Mohan Ghoumari played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chakib Halouadji in the 42nd minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abdelnacer Meriem to make the kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Redouane Zidane managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stalybridge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Redouane Zidane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abdelnacer Meriem in the 59th minute of play forced Paignton AFC's goalkeeper Boumedienne Kheyari to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute Redouane Zidane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boumedienne Kheyari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Slimane Berradja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boumedienne Kheyari having to interfere. Yahia Dib fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mohan Ghoumari having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Fahd Guerrache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Redouane Zidane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Stalybridge's Abdelnacer Meriem sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Boumedienne Kheyari narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
