Southwell City's Mansour El Aychi couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 36th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Pontefract. Dida Tahar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ilias Benguedoudj in the 38th minute. Khaldoun Saâdane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lakhdar Assad, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Issan Boulebda charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Issan Boulebda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Issan Boulebda hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ilias Benguedoudj stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dida Tahar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ilias Benguedoudj, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute Southwell City were awarded a corner. Mansour El Aychi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Ilias Benguedoudj got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-2. 64 minutes into the match. In the 70th minute, Ilias Benguedoudj got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ales Sellami kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. A collision led to Southwell City getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Issan Boulebda hit a great ball. Amine Meniri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Khaldoun Saâdane having to interfere. Ilias Benguedoudj struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Dida Tahar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Southwell City. Lakhdar Assad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Khaldoun Saâdane having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Southwell City lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
