After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Tozé Varanda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ilfracombe United's supporters rose to their feet, but Tozé Varanda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiago Canales showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Meneses, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Miguel Lima Clemente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Tiago Canales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Meneses in the 21st minute of play forced Ilfracombe United's goalkeeper Tiago Canales to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguel Lima Clemente's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiago Canales read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. After 26 played minutes Ilfracombe United got a freekick which was hit by Hernani Amado. Ilfracombe United's Tiago Canales played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Meneses in the 28th minute of play. 32 minutes into the game, Hernani Amado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ilfracombe United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rayleigh City the free kick. Afonso Meneses struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Tiago Canales didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rayleigh City. In the 36th minute Afonso Meneses shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Canales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiago Canales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Lima Clemente in the 37th minute of the match. Tiago Canales made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Lima Clemente in the 42nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ilfracombe United's zone, Afonso Meneses stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tiago Canales came out of the goal and Afonso Meneses tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Vila-Santa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Rayleigh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evaristo Matta to maneuver through the defense. After 56 played minutes Rayleigh City got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Matta. Ilfracombe United's João Carlos Pereira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 57th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Rayleigh City. Custódio Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tozé Varanda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Afonso Ezequiel Niz charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Ezequiel Niz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ilfracombe United booed when Rayleigh City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Ezequiel Niz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 73 minutes, Tozé Varanda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ilfracombe United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tozé Varanda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miguel Lima Clemente got free with Tiago Canales in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tozé Varanda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Custódio Jacinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Afonso Ezequiel Niz got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Afonso Ezequiel Niz hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the match, Rayleigh City's goal looked a bit too open when David Vila-Santa came free, but Custódio Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 95 minutes of play Ilfracombe United's Hernani Amado was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Hernani Amado kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Ilfracombe United had won after a very even match.
