Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Emílio Borges started the match with the kick off. Cláudio Rochedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Carlos Polido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edmundo Firmino during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Clacton booed when Salford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Firmino didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Avelino Malafaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Salford getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Manuel Clérigo hit a great ball. With a little luck, Salford's Carlos Polido got control of the ball when Cláudio Rochedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cláudio Rochedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute, Clacton's Cláudio Rochedo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Carlos Polido. Carlos Polido yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 27th minute of the match Afonso De Matos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Simão Fernandes Braga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Cláudio Rochedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 36 minutes into the game, Avelino Malafaia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Carlos Polido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 44 minutes in the game, Avelino Malafaia fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Carlos Polido having to interfere. Cláudio Rochedo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Carlos Polido made a huge save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Avelino Malafaia to strike the kick off in the second half. Cláudio Rochedo struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Carlos Polido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clacton. Carlos Polido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cláudio Rochedo in the 54th minute of the match. In the 65th minute Avelino Malafaia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Polido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Avelino Malafaia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clacton's Cláudio Rochedo got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 76 played minutes Salford got a freekick which was hit by Edmundo Firmino . If Avelino Malafaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clacton's Cláudio Rochedo got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 86 minutes into the match, Salford's goal looked a bit too open when Avelino Malafaia came free, but Carlos Polido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute, Vítor Chafes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 99th minute, Eduardo Curvelo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salford's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduardo Curvelo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Fernandes Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
