Great Yarmouth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Caneças was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Heitor Quilempan made a kick off. Eduardo Caneças sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélio Moco might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alão Caneças. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hélio Moco ran back to his position shaking his head. Simão Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Lando having to interfere. If Hélio Moco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 69th minute, Hélio Moco made a precise shot to the right of Alão Caneças. Great Yarmouth's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The audience was convinced that Simão Nascimento's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emílio Lando was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Eduardo Caneças blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emílio Lando having to make a save.
