The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute Manuel Flores shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Pepetela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alda Correia hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ubaldo Galão in the 16th minute of play forced Recreativo FC®'s goalkeeper Paulo Pepetela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Recreativo FC®'s Afonso Meneses got a free kick in the 26th minute. Paulo Pepetela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurício Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th match minute, Carrapichel Angolano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurício Mendes to maneuver through the defense. 37 minutes into the match, Carrapichel Angolano's goal looked a bit too open when Pôncio Bouça came free, but Tiago Ericeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ubaldo Galão to make the kick off. Paulo Pepetela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastián Malheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th match minute, Carrapichel Angolano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emílio Odemira to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Alda Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Recreativo FC®'s supporters rose to their feet, but Alda Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiago Ericeira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sebastián Malheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 80th match minute, Recreativo FC® was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pôncio Bouça to maneuver through the defense. After 81 played minutes Carrapichel Angolano got a freekick which was hit by Sebastián Malheiro. Carrapichel Angolano's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Recreativo FC® had won, even though Carrapichel Angolano had held more of the ball.
