After having played for 10 minutes, Custódio Canales managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Runcorn's supporters crossed their fingers, but Custódio Canales was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Custódio Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee felt a red card was in order, 28 minutes into the game, when Carlos Correia put in a rough tackle. A collision led to Skelmersdale getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Diamantino Pereira hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Skelmersdale's Quim Almedia got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute of the match Henrique Russo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Viveque Matta skillfully saved the ball. Tadeu Pedrosa's late challenge caught a Runcorn's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tadeu Pedrosa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 37th match minute, Skelmersdale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeu Pedrosa to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Runcorn's Custódio Canales slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Viveque Matta. That made the score 2-0 after 41 minutes of play. Alda Bastos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Viveque Matta made a huge save.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fábio Montoia to strike the kick off in the second half. Heitor Galão fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 53rd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. After a rather tough play, Skelmersdale's Neide Da Costa got a free kick in the 54th minute. After 57 played minutes Skelmersdale got a freekick which was hit by Quim Almedia. Viveque Matta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Custódio Canales, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Valies kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. 3-0 became the score in the 74th minute when Custódio Canales elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Luís Ermida might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Viveque Matta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Ermida ran back to his position shaking his head. Viveque Matta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nuno Curvelo made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Custódio Nascimento sent off a good shot on target. 92 minutes into the game, one of Skelmersdale:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 94th minute there was a penalty for Runcorn. Henrique Russo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Viveque Matta. 4-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Runcorn had played much better football throughout.
