Marílio Caneças charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 8 played minutes Runcorn got a freekick which was hit by Toni Areosa. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Novais in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nuno Curvelo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nuno Curvelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Novais, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. If Manuel Novais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vítor Polido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Curvelo having to interfere. After 28 minutes, Manuel Novais made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Runcorn's Nuno Curvelo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31stth minute of the game Manuel Novais who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Runcorn's Nuno Curvelo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nuno Curvelo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marílio Caneças in the 35th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Runcorn's Luís Ermida ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paulo Pepetela. Paulo Pepetela yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Custódio Canales was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Runcorn's goalkeeper Nuno Curvelo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manuel Novais. Nuno Curvelo was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Manuel Novais capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Manuel Novais really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. After 57 minutes, Manuel Novais made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Runcorn's Nuno Curvelo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Manuel Novais came free with the goalkeeper in the 65th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nuno Curvelo could save by the left post. With a little luck, Runcorn's Nuno Curvelo got control of the ball when Marílio Caneças tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Recreativo FC® booed when Runcorn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Alda Correia in the 74th minute really tested Nuno Curvelo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Manuel Novais could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Nuno Curvelo made a huge save. With a little luck, Runcorn's Nuno Curvelo got control of the ball when Afonso Meneses tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 81 played minutes Recreativo FC® got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Meneses. In a very dangerous position, a player in Runcorn fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! In the 91st minute, Rogério Da Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nuno Curvelo made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Manuel Novais sent off a good shot on target. Nuno Curvelo was a little too slow when Manuel Novais got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 98th minute. The score was now 2-7. Recreativo FC® played a much better game than Runcorn and deserved their victory. The Runcorn players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
