When Vuyo Wanani fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nxaxo's protests and gave Vuyo Wanani a yellow card for diving instead. Lazarus Klaasens blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Takalani Qabi having to make a save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lazarus Klaasens stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. FC Hornlee's supporters rose to their feet, but Jocob Strauss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Takalani Qabi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Hornlee. Takalani Qabi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lazarus Klaasens's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alex Phakathi during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Nxaxo booed when FC Hornlee was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Phakathi didn't get a good kick on the ball.
