A very good chance for a goal. 12 minutes into the match, FC Neandertal's Darren Edwards sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basil Mfeke narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FC Neandertal's zone, Lungie Thwala stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francis Takane came out of the goal and Lungie Thwala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Zolile FC's goal looked a bit too open when Darren Edwards came free, but Basil Mfeke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Zolile FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jafta Koen came free, but Basil Mfeke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Neandertal's Jafta Koen got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basil Mfeke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jafta Koen in the 26th minute of the match. Steve Kubheka's late challenge caught a FC Neandertal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steve Kubheka helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Zolile FC's Steve Kubheka got a free kick in the 28th minute. Basil Mfeke stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Darren Edwards's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Harry Radebe, 34 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 39th minute, Harry Collins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute, Dean Mufumadi sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Neandertal's Francis Takane didn't even have to move. Alpheus Arendse kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Lungie Thwala recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Lungie Thwala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zolile FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lungie Thwala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francis Takane breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silas Mumede during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd match minute, Zolile FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Mumede to maneuver through the defense. Darren Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil Mfeke having to interfere. A collision led to Zolile FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Lungie Thwala hit a great ball. When Jafta Koen came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the FC Neandertal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jafta Koen couldn't finish the play. 57 minutes into the match, Zolile FC's goalkeeper Basil Mfeke had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darren Edwards. If Darren Edwards had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 60 minutes, Darren Edwards managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Neandertal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darren Edwards was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jafta Koen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Basil Mfeke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silas Mumede sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jafta Koen struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Basil Mfeke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Neandertal. Jafta Koen had several of the Zolile FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 79 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Basil Mfeke as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 82 minutes, Lungie Thwala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zolile FC and the FC Neandertal players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jafta Koen in the 83rd minute of play forced Zolile FC's goalkeeper Basil Mfeke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th match minute, Zolile FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Mumede to maneuver through the defense. Darren Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basil Mfeke having to interfere. The FC Neandertal supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Neandertal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
