Thami Thokozani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Mfeke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If David Mfeke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that David Mfeke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thami Thokozani was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Mando Khomane hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nelson Nauseb got free with Thami Thokozani in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Sizwe Melele fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Spicy Meatballs FC's protests and gave Sizwe Melele a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns booed when Spicy Meatballs FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sizwe Melele didn't get a good kick on the ball. If David Mfeke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Serage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jikolo Thwala having to interfere. David Mfeke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Thami Thokozani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Mando Khomane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Mfeke in the 44th minute of play forced Spicy Meatballs FC's goalkeeper Thami Thokozani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Mfeke to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Spicy Meatballs FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joseph Dinha to maneuver through the defense. Spicy Meatballs FC's Thami Thokozani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson Nauseb in the 53rd minute of play. Jikolo Thwala came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Spicy Meatballs FC's Alex Serage. But to his dismay, Alex Serage quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by Jomo Thabang got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jomo Thabangs short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Jikolo Thwala to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sizwe Melele hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Spicy Meatballs FC's Jomo Thabang sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jikolo Thwala narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 73 minutes into the game, Bomikaze Ngake was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mamelodi Sundowns's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Spicy Meatballs FC the free kick. The supporters of Spicy Meatballs FC booed when Mamelodi Sundowns was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bomikaze Ngake didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Andre Dube sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mamelodi Sundowns's Jikolo Thwala didn't even have to move. Jomo Thabang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Jikolo Thwala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jomo Thabang got free with Jikolo Thwala in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jomo Thabang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jikolo Thwala having to interfere. The Mamelodi Sundowns supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Spicy Meatballs FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Spicy Meatballs FC.
