Jonas King came out of the goal and Sibongile Tshabalala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Mathibela Mfeke kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jikolo Thwala. That made the score 1-0 in the 35 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelson Nauseb stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonas King didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sibongile Tshabalala went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. When Mathibela Mfeke came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the FC Ngwara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mathibela Mfeke couldn't finish the play. In the 66th minute of the match Hassan Mothobi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jikolo Thwala showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Bomikaze Ngake kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Mamelodi Sundowns's Jikolo Thwala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathibela Mfeke in the 69th minute of play. Enock Edwards kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Mathibela Mfeke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mamelodi Sundowns's goalkeeper Jikolo Thwala, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sibongile Tshabalala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Nauseb in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonas King saved FC Ngwara from getting behind. When FC Ngwara's Mathibela Mfeke in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mamelodi Sundowns's goalie prevented a goal. FC Ngwara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 97th minute, when Nelson Nauseb scored to the left of an out of position Jonas King, making the score, 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mamelodi Sundowns eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
