The referee gave Evutha a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Melusi Qabi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mamelodi Sundowns's Jikolo Thwala. 0-1. Jikolo Thwala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dumisane King in the 17th minute of the match. Jikolo Thwala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Liau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jikolo Thwala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Liau, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Nelson Nauseb struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Rabelani Khumalo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mamelodi Sundowns. Jikolo Thwala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Liau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 28 played minutes Mamelodi Sundowns got a freekick which was hit by Norman Steyn. After having played for 32 minutes, Dumisane King managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Evutha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dumisane King was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Charles Liau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jikolo Thwala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Steve Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evutha's Dumisane King got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Dumisane King had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Mfeke made a kick off. Mamelodi Sundowns's Jikolo Thwala proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Mamelodi Sundowns from getting a goal against them. Rabelani Khumalo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Nauseb in the 65th minute of the match. Dumisane King recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Charles Liau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jikolo Thwala having to interfere. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Dumisane King sped through Mamelodi Sundowns's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jikolo Thwala. Norman Steyn hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Charles Liau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Jikolo Thwala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 89 minutes, Dumisane King managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Evutha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dumisane King was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Liau in the 91st minute of play forced Mamelodi Sundowns's goalkeeper Jikolo Thwala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Dumisane King came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Evutha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dumisane King couldn't finish the play. The Mamelodi Sundowns supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Evutha's performance. The match ended with a win for Evutha.
