Norman Steyn charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Norman Steyn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 45 played minutes Mamelodi Sundowns got a freekick which was hit by Norman Steyn. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bomikaze Mufumadi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Shaheed Kanku's late challenge caught a Pink saints's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shaheed Kanku helped the player get up and apologised. After 52 played minutes Mamelodi Sundowns got a freekick which was hit by Shaheed Kanku. When Pink saints's Hassan Fortuin, in the 54th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Pink saints. After having played for 57 minutes, Bomikaze Mufumadi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pink saints's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bomikaze Mufumadi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd minute of the game, Pink saints got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. After having played for 66 minutes, Norman Steyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mamelodi Sundowns's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norman Steyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hassan Fortuin got free with Jikolo Thwala in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 81st match minute, Pink saints was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornell Smith to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pink saints's goalkeeper Henry Kolwa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, Mamelodi Sundowns's goalkeeper Jikolo Thwala had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hassan Fortuin. Jikolo Thwala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bomikaze Mufumadi in the 87th minute of the match. Jikolo Thwala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bomikaze Mufumadi, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Hassan Fortuin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bomikaze Mufumadi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 100th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jikolo Thwala having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
