After 5 minutes, James Mandla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pink saints and the Spicy Meatballs FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 5th minute, James Mandla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Sibongile Edwards fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pink saints's protests and gave Sibongile Edwards a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had been going on for 11 minutes, Spicy Meatballs FC's Andre Dube got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Henry Kolwa. Bomikaze Mufumadi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Thami Thokozani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alex Serage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute Hassan Fortuin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thami Thokozani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. James Mandla was shown his second yellow card after 20 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 21 played minutes Pink saints got a freekick which was hit by James Mandla. In the 23rd minute, Alex Serage got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Henry Kolwa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Serage in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Pink saints's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Serage came free, but Henry Kolwa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henry Kolwa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jomo Thabang went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Cornell Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Spicy Meatballs FC's Thami Thokozani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hassan Fortuin in the 45th minute of play. Thami Thokozani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hassan Fortuin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When Lindo Mokatimi fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pink saints. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bomikaze Mufumadi during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th minute, Bomikaze Mufumadi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 87 minutes into the game, Hassan Fortuin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Thami Thokozani was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mando Khomane kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Hassan Fortuin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Cornell Smith came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Pink saints fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cornell Smith couldn't finish the play. Spicy Meatballs FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
