Spectators: 6934 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1933, VIP seats: 1) 3 minutes into the match, FC lions's Basil Radebe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mathibela Dinha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 4th match minute, FC Lutha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mpho Thembe to maneuver through the defense. Basil Radebe struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Mathibela Dinha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC lions. 14 minutes into the match, Nkosi Modise had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Allan Inguana. FC lions's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nkosi Modise was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Nkosi Modise came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the FC Lutha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nkosi Modise couldn't finish the play. Allan Inguana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nkosi Modise in the 21st minute of the match. Thami Mangope received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mathibela Dinha came out and tried to block the shot, but Thami Mangope slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 26th minute. FC Lutha's Nicholas Setlaba got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thami Mangope received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Mathibela Dinha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute of the match, Basil Radebe got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mathibela Dinha was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Basil Radebe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Mathibela Dinha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mathibela Dinha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Basil Radebe in the 46th minute. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Basil Radebe got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicholas Setlaba was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes FC Lutha got a freekick which was hit by Nicholas Setlaba. With a little luck, FC lions's Allan Inguana got control of the ball when Nkosi Modise tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of FC lions booed when FC Lutha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Mokhasi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the FC Lutha defense, Thami Mangope kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mathibela Dinha. The FC Lutha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mathibela Dinha should have stopped the shot. After having played for 68 minutes, Basil Radebe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC lions's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basil Radebe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, FC lions's Allan Inguana got control of the ball when Nkosi Modise tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thami Mangope in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mathibela Dinha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 80th minute Basil Radebe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathibela Dinha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Lutha's goalkeeper Mathibela Dinha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Thami Mangope had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathibela Dinha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basil Radebe in the 89th minute of play.
