The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rob Ntsume showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bomikaze Fredericks, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. With a little luck, FC Ruitersbos's Rob Ntsume got control of the ball when Papi Strauss tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Papi Strauss came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Dotz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Papi Strauss couldn't finish the play. FC Ruitersbos's Michael Sephadi got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Siyabonge Mokatimi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Sephadi in the 21st minute of play. In the 31st match minute, Dotz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gary Edwards to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Sephadi in the 33rd minute of play forced Dotz's goalkeeper Siyabonge Mokatimi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hlamane Mahlangu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hassan Klaasens charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hassan Klaasens the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Dotz getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Hassan Klaasens hit a great ball. Hlamane Mahlangu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Siyabonge Mokatimi having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Dotz's Bomikaze Fredericks sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rob Ntsume narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hlamane Mahlangu to strike the kick off in the second half. After 62 played minutes Dotz got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Kekana. Rob Ntsume showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Papi Strauss, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Hlamane Mahlangu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Siyabonge Mokatimi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hlamane Mahlangu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Ruitersbos's Hlamane Mahlangu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Siyabonge Mokatimi. That made the score 0-1 after 76 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Papi Strauss managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dotz's supporters rose to their feet, but Papi Strauss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rob Ntsume breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michael Sephadi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Siyabonge Mokatimi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Dotz booed when FC Ruitersbos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phillip Konza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dotz's Gary Edwards couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 96th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FC Ruitersbos. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
