Alpheus Takane stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hlamane Khumalo's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Ricky Machete could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Alpheus Takane made a huge save. Ricky Machete struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Alpheus Takane didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BLACK STARS FC. After having played for 35 minutes, Hlamane Khumalo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BLACK STARS FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hlamane Khumalo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Kift boys f.c's Mathibela Konza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Darren Arendse narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Silas Webb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Silas Webb managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kift boys f.c's supporters rose to their feet, but Silas Webb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darren Arendse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hlamane Khumalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Silas Webb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
