The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Jafta Thebe managed to get in a good position for a shot. DISTRICT 9's supporters rose to their feet, but Jafta Thebe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sipho Thompson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bradley Collins hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Johann Thompson kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, DISTRICT 9's goalkeeper Ricky Kubheka had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hanile Nkadimeng. 23 minutes into the match, Hanile Nkadimeng dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ricky Kubheka, 1-0. A hard shot by Mpho Dube from long distance, 31 minutes into the match, got Ricky Kubheka's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Johann Thompson hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Sipho Thompson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hanile Mbule, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Jafta Thebe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Musa Modipa during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Musa Modipa hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Jafta Thebe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Sipho Thompson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Noxolo Roberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes into the match, DISTRICT 9's goalkeeper Ricky Kubheka had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hanile Nkadimeng. DISTRICT 9's Ricky Kubheka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noxolo Roberts in the 48th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute, Jafta Thebe ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sipho Thompson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. DISTRICT 9's Ricky Kubheka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noxolo Roberts in the 61st minute of play. Noxolo Roberts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricky Kubheka having to interfere. After 63 minutes of play DISTRICT 9's Johann Thompson was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 64 played minutes DISTRICT 9 got a freekick which was hit by Johann Thompson. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind DISTRICT 9's goalkeeper Ricky Kubheka, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Noxolo Roberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sipho Thompson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jafta Thebe in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Jafta Thebe had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sipho Thompson. FC KuLombombo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jafta Thebe was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Ricky Kubheka didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hanile Nkadimeng went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. FC KuLombombo's Hanile Nkadimeng got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ricky Kubheka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noxolo Roberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. DISTRICT 9's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
