Hlamane Mandela was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A hard shot 16 in the game by Basil Okpara from a close distance when the talented Patrice Mandela managed to make a qualified save. Glenside's players were relieved. After 18 played minutes, Glenside's Phillip Mufadi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hlamane Mandela came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Glenside reached it. With his leg Patrice Mandela managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Santos FC Cape Town's Basil Okpara fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Santos FC Cape Town's Hlamane Mandela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricky Etafia in the 26th minute of play. After 28 minutes, Hassan Qabi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Glenside and the Santos FC Cape Town players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Glenside's Hassan Qabi got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 36th minute, Santos FC Cape Town's Leslie Strauss ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Patrice Mandela. Patrice Mandela yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricky Etafia in the 39th minute of play forced Santos FC Cape Town's goalkeeper Hlamane Mandela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basil Okpara got free with Patrice Mandela in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ricky Etafia was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Basil Okpara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrice Mandela was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Santos FC Cape Town's Hlamane Mandela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Santos FC Cape Town from getting a goal against them. When Basil Okpara came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Santos FC Cape Town fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basil Okpara couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, one of Glenside:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Glenside. In the 88th minute there was a penalty for Santos FC Cape Town. Harry Mayoyo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Patrice Mandela. 3-2. Basil Okpara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrice Mandela having to interfere. In the 98th minute, Mpenza Stoltz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee ended the match the Santos FC Cape Town players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
