Mthunzi Madima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Machete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bongi Stoltz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Soloman Tembe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peninghotsa's Mthunzi Madima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Macheke in the 20th minute of play. When Aubrey Shongwe fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Peninghotsa's protests and gave Aubrey Shongwe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, one of Peninghotsa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Peninghotsa. In the 23rd minute there was a penalty for stellenbosh city. Kenny Ngake stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mthunzi Madima. 0-1. Lazarus Radebe kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Lazarus Radebe hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After 30 played minutes, Peninghotsa's Jakob Modise shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Soloman Tembe came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Peninghotsa reached it. If Promise Wanani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute.
