Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) When Maxwell Mufadi came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Maqwathini fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maxwell Mufadi couldn't finish the play. If Nkosi Thompson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute, Nkosi Thompson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rabelani Kekana. The goal made the score 1-0. Henry Smith hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. If Nelson Sewele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Maqwathini booed when Welgevonden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thami Mnisi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rabelani Kekana was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Nkosi Thompson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nkosi Thompson really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Maxwell Mufadi in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rabelani Kekana, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Maxwell Mufadi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Rabelani Kekana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maxwell Mufadi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rabelani Kekana having to interfere. Maxwell Mufadi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Rabelani Kekana when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Patrick Maduna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Maqwathini's zone, Patrick Maduna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boyisani Nkadimeng came out of the goal and Patrick Maduna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rabelani Kekana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nkosi Thompson, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Welgevonden's Thabo Mbheki got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 47 minutes, Thabo Mbheki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Welgevonden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thabo Mbheki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nkosi Thompson to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Maxwell Mufadi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maqwathini's supporters rose to their feet, but Maxwell Mufadi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rabelani Kekana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Thabo Mbheki managed to get in a good position for a shot. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nkosi Thompson took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rabelani Kekana. Rabelani Kekana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. When Nicolas Patel fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maqwathini's protests and gave Nicolas Patel a yellow card for diving instead. Nicolas Patel hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Thabo Mbheki fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Boyisani Nkadimeng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Sewele, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thami Mnisi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
