The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mthunzi Madima stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maxwell Mufadi's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxwell Mufadi in the 4th minute of play forced Peninghotsa's goalkeeper Mthunzi Madima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Promise Wanani scored 1-0 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Boyisani Nkadimeng, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mthunzi Madima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nkosi Thompson in the 16th minute of the match. Maxwell Mufadi might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mthunzi Madima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Maxwell Mufadi ran back to his position shaking his head. Nkosi Thompson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Mthunzi Madima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nkosi Thompson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Promise Wanani struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Boyisani Nkadimeng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peninghotsa. Promise Wanani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Boyisani Nkadimeng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bongi Stoltz in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maqwathini's goalkeeper Boyisani Nkadimeng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In a very dangerous position, a player in Peninghotsa fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 51st minute. Penalty! Nkosi Thompson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 59 minutes, Promise Wanani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peninghotsa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Promise Wanani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Peninghotsa's goalkeeper Mthunzi Madima had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxwell Mufadi. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Promise Wanani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peninghotsa's supporters rose to their feet, but Promise Wanani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boyisani Nkadimeng breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mpenza Tshabalala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyisani Nkadimeng having to interfere. Peninghotsa's William Ntsume suffered a concussion in the 70th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Nkosi Thompson charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nkosi Thompson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nkosi Thompson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicolas Patel hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Maxwell Mufadi sped through Peninghotsa's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mthunzi Madima. Sipho Mafuna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mthunzi Madima having to interfere. Maxwell Mufadi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Mthunzi Madima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peninghotsa's Mthunzi Madima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nkosi Thompson in the 95th minute of play. Peninghotsa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 96th minute, when Maxwell Mufadi scored to the left of an out of position Mthunzi Madima, making the score, 1-2. The Peninghotsa supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Maqwathini's performance. The match ended with a win for Maqwathini.
