In the 18th minute, Thami Ngake got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th minute Sipho Mafuna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Mayoyo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the FC Gansbaai defense, Maxwell Mufadi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Mayoyo. The FC Gansbaai fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Mayoyo should have stopped the shot. Samuel Mayoyo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Legako Kerns in the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, FC Gansbaai's goal looked a bit too open when Maxwell Mufadi came free, but Samuel Mayoyo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nkosi Thompson in the 29th minute of play forced FC Gansbaai's goalkeeper Samuel Mayoyo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Johann Mkhwanazi made a precise shot to the right of Boyisani Nkadimeng. Maqwathini's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The referee felt a red card was in order, 35 minutes into the game, when Raymond Mokhasi put in a rough tackle. 34 minutes into the game, one of FC Gansbaai:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Maqwathini. In the 48th minute, Nkosi Thompson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maqwathini fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Disappointed in the 1-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Dube made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, FC Gansbaai's goalkeeper Samuel Mayoyo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxwell Mufadi. Legako Kerns received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Samuel Mayoyo came out and tried to block the shot, but Legako Kerns slotted it home off the left post making it 2-6 in the 62nd minute. After 66 played minutes FC Gansbaai got a freekick which was hit by Jomo Klein. Samuel Mayoyo made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Maxwell Mufadi sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Maqwathini defense, Tomas Dube kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boyisani Nkadimeng. The Maqwathini fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Boyisani Nkadimeng should have stopped the shot. Samuel Mayoyo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Legako Kerns in the 77th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Nkosi Thompson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Samuel Mayoyo. The goal made the score 3-7. Maqwathini played a much better game than FC Gansbaai and deserved their victory. The FC Gansbaai players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
