After 6 minutes, Lindo Okpara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Merinowelk and the Lukolweni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lindo Okpara hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the game, Jocob Kekana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Steve Mokatimi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ebrahim Lekgwathi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 15th minute, Lukolweni's Ebrahim Lekgwathi dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Lindo Okpara got his second yellow card in the match during the 19th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 20 minutes, Fuzile Thebile mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Merinowelk and the Lukolweni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thomas Qabi, 21 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Merinowelk's goalkeeper Steve Mokatimi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jocob Kekana. Steve Mokatimi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ebrahim Lekgwathi, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Jocob Kekana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes in the game, Ebrahim Lekgwathi fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Steve Mokatimi having to interfere. Jocob Kekana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Steve Mokatimi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 42 minutes, Jocob Kekana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lukolweni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jocob Kekana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ebrahim Lekgwathi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jocob Kekana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Ivan Takane made the kick off in the second half. Jocob Kekana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Steve Mokatimi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Merinowelk's goalkeeper Steve Mokatimi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ivan Takane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Merinowelk's Fuzile Thebile got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jocob Kekana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Steve Mokatimi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jocob Kekana in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Steve Mokatimi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the game, Joseph Mahlangu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lukolweni's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Merinowelk the free kick. In the 80th minute, Ebrahim Lekgwathi made a precise shot to the right of Steve Mokatimi. Merinowelk's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. If Ebrahim Lekgwathi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jocob Kekana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steve Mokatimi having to interfere. After some careless play in the Merinowelk defense, Jocob Kekana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Steve Mokatimi. The Merinowelk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Steve Mokatimi should have stopped the shot. Lukolweni's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
