Lebang Mufumadi came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Maqwathini's Maxwell Mufadi. But to his dismay, Maxwell Mufadi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Lebang Mufumadi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nkosi Thompson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nkosi Thompson struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Lebang Mufumadi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maqwathini. A collision led to Maqwathini getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Nicolas Patel hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Liau in the 19th minute of play forced Maqwathini's goalkeeper Boyisani Nkadimeng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Flamenguinho de iracema booed when Maqwathini was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sipho Mafuna didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th match minute, Maqwathini was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henry Smith to maneuver through the defense. 26 minutes into the match, Maqwathini's goal looked a bit too open when Anton Thokozani came free, but Boyisani Nkadimeng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nkosi Thompson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lebang Mufumadi having to interfere. Norman Sibeko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Boyisani Nkadimeng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Norman Sibeko took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Boyisani Nkadimeng. Boyisani Nkadimeng dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Mawetu Mufadi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Lebang Mufumadi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nkosi Thompson made a kick off. When Mawetu Mufadi fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maqwathini's protests and gave Mawetu Mufadi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 51st minute, Mawetu Mufadi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivan Tshabalala charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivan Tshabalala the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Flamenguinho de iracema getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Ivan Tshabalala hit a great ball. If Norman Sibeko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The attack was good, but when Nkosi Thompson in the 67th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Maqwathini's Nkosi Thompson got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Boyisani Nkadimeng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Liau in the 73rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leon Liau in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Boyisani Nkadimeng saved Maqwathini from getting behind. Norman Sibeko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Boyisani Nkadimeng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sipho Mafuna hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After 85 minutes of play, Maqwathini's Legako Kerns made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lebang Mufumadi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Maxwell Mufadi struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Lebang Mufumadi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 94th minute Maxwell Mufadi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lebang Mufumadi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 94 minutes, Steve Takalani mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flamenguinho de iracema and the Maqwathini players grew even worse after the yellow card.
