The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jabu Mabalane during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Flamenguinho de iracema's Anton Thokozani couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 19th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for stellenbosh city. 21 minutes into the match, Leon Liau had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Soloman Tembe. stellenbosh city's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leon Liau was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Soloman Tembe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leon Liau went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 36th minute, Jabu Mabalane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, stellenbosh city's Jabu Mabalane got a free kick in the 37th minute. Lebang Mufumadi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sam Machete in the 40th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Leon Liau's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Soloman Tembe was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. With a little luck, Flamenguinho de iracema's Lebang Mufumadi got control of the ball when Allan Macheke tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sam Machete was the one to do the kick off. Lazarus Radebe charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lazarus Radebe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Flamenguinho de iracema booed when stellenbosh city was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lazarus Radebe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sam Machete in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lebang Mufumadi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Flamenguinho de iracema's zone, Sam Machete stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lebang Mufumadi came out of the goal and Sam Machete tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Silas Fortuin's late challenge caught a stellenbosh city's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Silas Fortuin helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Flamenguinho de iracema's Silas Fortuin got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Norman Sibeko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lebang Mufumadi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Machete in the 71st minute of play. During the 72nd minute of the match Steve Takalani completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Steve Takalani a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Steve Takalani kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, stellenbosh city's Kenny Ngake tried to score from far away in the 74th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Allan Macheke took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lebang Mufumadi. Lebang Mufumadi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Allan Macheke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lebang Mufumadi having to interfere. Lazarus Radebe got his second yellow card in the match during the 82nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Lazarus Radebe kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Soloman Tembe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Norman Sibeko went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Allan Macheke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sam Machete in the 89th minute of play forced Flamenguinho de iracema's goalkeeper Lebang Mufumadi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Allan Macheke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lebang Mufumadi having to make a save. 94 minutes into the match, Yacoob Mumede had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lebang Mufumadi. Flamenguinho de iracema's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yacoob Mumede was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Sam Machete fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lebang Mufumadi having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Flamenguinho de iracema eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
