The Union Transvaal fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Union Transvaal's Sipho Tau looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Rob Sephiri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Sizwe Bartlett made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Johannesburg's Rob Sephiri slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sizwe Bartlett. That made the score 1-1 after 27 minutes of play. Dane Kruger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute.
