In the 7th minute of the match Srdžan Šikman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerhard Senčar skillfully saved the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Real Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Ljubiša Mrak came free, but Gerhard Senčar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 10 minutes Real Madrid's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Srdžan Šikman who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Portorož NK's Srdžan Šikman to fire away a dangerous shot which Gerhard Senčar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 12 minutes, Ljubiša Mrak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portorož NK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ljubiša Mrak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 14 minutes, Marino Pugelj mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Madrid and the Portorož NK players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Portorož NK booed when Real Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Pugelj didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ljubiša Mrak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerhard Senčar having to interfere. Bogo Lavrinc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Gerhard Senčar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vojimir Trauner kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Vojimir Trauner struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Gerhard Senčar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portorož NK. 24 minutes into the game, Portorož NK's Ljubiša Mrak nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gerhard Senčar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Rihard Vidačković kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Portorož NK's Srdžan Šikman tried to score from far away in the 28th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The supporters of Portorož NK booed when Real Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Pugelj didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Portorož NK's Ljubomir Fric got control of the ball when Guglielmo Aljaž tried to sneak it across the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Ljubiša Mrak had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gerhard Senčar. Real Madrid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ljubiša Mrak was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ljubiša Mrak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bogo Lavrinc to strike the kick off in the second half. Bogo Lavrinc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Gerhard Senčar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ljubomir Fric showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guglielmo Aljaž in the 54th minute of the match. Bogo Lavrinc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerhard Senčar having to interfere. Gerhard Senčar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bogo Lavrinc, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Real Madrid's Guglielmo Aljaž got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ljubomir Fric showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from France Bonča in the 66th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the match, Portorož NK's goal looked a bit too open when Guglielmo Aljaž came free, but Ljubomir Fric reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute Guglielmo Aljaž shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ljubomir Fric saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute, Rihard Vidačković hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Real Madrid getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Maks Dobnik hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the match, Real Madrid's goalkeeper Gerhard Senčar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ljubiša Mrak. When Ljubiša Mrak came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Portorož NK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ljubiša Mrak couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute, Gusti Spahić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, France Bonča managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Madrid's supporters rose to their feet, but France Bonča was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ljubomir Fric breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 94th minute, Ljubiša Mrak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Portorož NK supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Portorož NK would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
