Brendon Teraž came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Vrhnika's Mergim Likar. But to his dismay, Mergim Likar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Vrhnika's Bojči Janževec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Kunstič in the 14th minute of play. Mergim Likar might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brendon Teraž. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mergim Likar ran back to his position shaking his head. Ernes Makuc struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Brendon Teraž didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vrhnika. 26 minutes into the match, Daniele Zemljič notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Vrhnika's Bojči Janževec. Bojči Janževec was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Vrhnika's zone, Daniele Zemljič stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bojči Janževec came out of the goal and Daniele Zemljič tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bojči Janževec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Kunstič in the 39th minute of play. In the 42nd minute of the match Oleg Žnidarec sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bojči Janževec skillfully saved the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Vrhnika's goal looked a bit too open when David Kunstič came free, but Bojči Janževec reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mergim Likar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Brendon Teraž tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Kunstič stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Šmartno ob Paki NK were awarded a corner. Darko Triplat went to the cornerflag to take it.
