In the 10thth minute of the game Venčeslav Poteko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tržič's Kristian Vrbinc was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Tržič getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Paskal Križaj hit a great ball. Kristian Vrbinc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stanko Kosec, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. After having played for 13 minutes, Paskal Križaj managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tržič's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paskal Križaj was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stanko Kosec was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 25th minute Venčeslav Poteko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristian Vrbinc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vasja Klemensberger kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Stanko Kosec sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Stanko Kosec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 39 minutes, Predrag Burja mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tržič and the NK Maribor players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ion Jusić made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Paskal Križaj took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Suvad Kušar to make any attempt to save it. Stanko Kosec scored 3-1 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kristian Vrbinc, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Suvad Kušar came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Tržič's Ion Jusić. But to his dismay, Ion Jusić quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Venčeslav Poteko managed to get in a good position for a shot. NK Maribor's supporters rose to their feet, but Venčeslav Poteko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kristian Vrbinc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Karim Pratneker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 76th minute, Ion Jusić reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Suvad Kušar. The goal made the score 3-3. In the 79th match minute, Tržič was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paskal Križaj to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute, Karim Pratneker made a precise shot to the right of Kristian Vrbinc. Tržič's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. Suvad Kušar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ion Jusić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karim Pratneker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Kristian Vrbinc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kristian Vrbinc stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Venčeslav Poteko's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Stanko Kosec struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Kristian Vrbinc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for NK Maribor. NK Maribor walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
