Nikola Kogoj charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nikola Kogoj the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nikola Kogoj kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Ljubljana's Rade Bombek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remo Feuš in the 6th minute of play. Rade Bombek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remo Feuš, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugen Plesničar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomislav Muck read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Chelsea F.C..'s goal looked a bit too open when Eugen Plesničar came free, but Tomislav Muck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gvidon Vinkovič got free with Rade Bombek in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugen Plesničar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tomislav Muck having to make a save. Nikola Kogoj fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomislav Muck having to interfere. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Chelsea F.C..'s goalkeeper Tomislav Muck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Remo Feuš got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nikola Kogoj received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Tomislav Muck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute Eugen Plesničar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomislav Muck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nikola Kogoj fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomislav Muck having to interfere. Gvidon Vinkovič sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomislav Muck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nikola Kogoj in the 39th minute of the match. After 41 played minutes Ljubljana got a freekick which was hit by Denis Serdinšek. Remo Feuš sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chelsea F.C..'s Ranko Botonjić suffered a concussion in the 43rd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Mirsad Škrjanc fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ljubljana's protests and gave Mirsad Škrjanc a yellow card for diving instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eugen Plesničar to make the kick off. The supporters of Ljubljana booed when Chelsea F.C.. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Attila Korez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nikola Kogoj recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eugen Plesničar had several of the Chelsea F.C..'s defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 59 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Tomislav Muck as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 63 played minutes Ljubljana got a freekick which was hit by Ecijo Habjan. If Deniz Kunovar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rade Bombek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gvidon Vinkovič in the 69th minute of the match. Eugen Plesničar struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Tomislav Muck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ljubljana. Nikola Kogoj in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tomislav Muck, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 82 minutes into the match, Ljubljana's Nikola Kogoj sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomislav Muck narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 84th minute Eugen Plesničar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomislav Muck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Chelsea F.C..'s Remo Feuš got a free kick in the 85th minute. After 87 minutes Chelsea F.C..'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ecijo Habjan who took care of the corner kick. Deniz Kunovar's late challenge caught a Ljubljana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Deniz Kunovar helped the player get up and apologised. Deniz Kunovar kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ljubljana had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
