Spectators: 7722 (Terracing: 5987, Seating: 1690, VIP seats: 45) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mavricij Bernik started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Christian Šivak managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Greenhorns's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Šivak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel Skender breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Skender made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik Šuster in the 10th minute of play. After 17 played minutes Maribor got a freekick which was hit by Krsta Rojc. In the 18th minute, New Greenhorns's Mavricij Bernik ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Daniel Skender. Daniel Skender yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 21st minute, Erik Šuster reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Daniel Skender. The goal made the score 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mavricij Bernik in the 24th minute of play forced Maribor's goalkeeper Daniel Skender to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mladen Slemenjak might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hektor Venek. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mladen Slemenjak ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in New Greenhorns's zone, Mladen Slemenjak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hektor Venek came out of the goal and Mladen Slemenjak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Maribor's Daniel Skender got control of the ball when Christian Šivak tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mladen Slemenjak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hektor Venek having to interfere. In the 37th minute Mladen Slemenjak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hektor Venek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th match minute, Maribor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgil Tihel to maneuver through the defense. Maribor's Mladen Slemenjak got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th match minute, New Greenhorns was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Šuster to maneuver through the defense. New Greenhorns's Hektor Venek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mladen Slemenjak in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mladen Slemenjak made a kick off. In the 58th minute Christian Šivak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Skender saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Tadij Martinc came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Maribor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tadij Martinc couldn't finish the play. After having played for 63 minutes, Tadij Martinc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maribor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tadij Martinc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tadij Martinc hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Tadij Martinc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Hektor Venek made a huge save. Mladen Slemenjak recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 74 minutes, Tadij Martinc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maribor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tadij Martinc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 77 minutes into the match, Maribor's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Šivak came free, but Daniel Skender reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Mavricij Bernik managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Greenhorns's supporters rose to their feet, but Mavricij Bernik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
