The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Julij Klinec received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Maurizio Majzelj tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Julij Klinec reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Maurizio Majzelj. The goal made the score 1-0. 18 minutes into the game, Milutin Stojko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Maurizio Majzelj was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 21 minutes, Ordančo Virant managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. nk.topničarji's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ordančo Virant was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Julij Klinec took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Maurizio Majzelj to make any attempt to save it. Milutin Stojko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julij Klinec struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Maurizio Majzelj didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for nk.topničarji. In the 38th match minute, NK Idrje was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mike Velej to maneuver through the defense. In the 47thth minute of the game Ivo Vitez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but NK Idrje's Maurizio Majzelj was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stjepan Dermastja to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Simeon Plestenjak was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. nk.topničarji's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave NK Idrje the free kick. After a rather tough play, nk.topničarji's Simeon Plestenjak got a free kick in the 51st minute. Milutin Stojko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stjepan Dermastja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasilije Kač having to interfere. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind NK Idrje's goalkeeper Maurizio Majzelj, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. NK Idrje's Maurizio Majzelj played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julij Klinec in the 85th minute of play. When Milutin Stojko came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the nk.topničarji fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Milutin Stojko couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the match, NK Idrje's goal looked a bit too open when Ordančo Virant came free, but Maurizio Majzelj reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ivo Vitez came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the nk.topničarji fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivo Vitez couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that nk.topničarji were the better team. nk.topničarji's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
