The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6thth minute of the game Duško Turnšek who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Koper's Cveto Novinec was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Koper's Ladislao Cordarrel got a free kick in the 13th minute. Cveto Novinec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from László Tar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Duško Turnšek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Cveto Novinec made a huge save. Konstantin Pančur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihail Coșereanu in the 17th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's goal looked a bit too open when Chatziantoniou Xanthos came free, but Konstantin Pančur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Duško Turnšek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cveto Novinec read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute HIT Gorica were awarded a corner. László Tar went to the cornerflag to take it. HIT Gorica's Zlatko Goričan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cveto Novinec in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 27 minutes into the match, Venancio Abalos notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of FC Koper's Cveto Novinec. Cveto Novinec was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Venancio Abalos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cveto Novinec read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Duško Turnšek in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cveto Novinec saved FC Koper from getting behind. 34 minutes into the match, FC Koper's goalkeeper Cveto Novinec had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duško Turnšek. 36 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's Venancio Abalos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cveto Novinec narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Konstantin Pančur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chatziantoniou Xanthos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cveto Novinec showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zlatko Goričan in the 48th minute of the match. HIT Gorica were awarded a corner in the 49th minute after FC Koper's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. László Tar took the corner. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Slawomir Brysz to strike the kick off in the second half. Konstantin Pančur made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chatziantoniou Xanthos in the 66th minute. After 69 minutes, Ladislao Cordarrel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Koper and the HIT Gorica players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when FC Koper was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislao Cordarrel didn't get a good kick on the ball. HIT Gorica's Richard Koštomaj was substituted for László Tar. HIT Gorica made a substitution. Istok Šabotić replaced Duško Turnšek. HIT Gorica made a substitution. Konstantin Pančur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Coșereanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when FC Koper was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Sasoin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Istok Šabotić sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Koper's Cveto Novinec didn't even have to move. Antoni Zdrojewski struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Cveto Novinec didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for HIT Gorica. Mihail Coșereanu took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Konstantin Pančur. Konstantin Pančur dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After 97 played minutes FC Koper got a freekick which was hit by Eren Vezir. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Koper players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for HIT Gorica.
