Antoni Zdrojewski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klemen Mikuž having to interfere. In the 9th minute, Zlatko Goričan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Agnaldo Ramalho took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Konstantin Pančur to make any attempt to save it. 14 minutes into the game, Milky Way's Agnaldo Ramalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Konstantin Pančur made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Ernes Flakus received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Konstantin Pančur came out and tried to block the shot, but Ernes Flakus slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 19th minute. Ernes Flakus came free with the goalkeeper in the 29th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Konstantin Pančur could save by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Duško Turnšek in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Klemen Mikuž saved Milky Way from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Ludvik Anclin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Konstantin Pančur was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. In the 36th minute of the match Milky Way got a corner. HIT Gorica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ben Koeling ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Ludvik Anclin managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The supporters of Milky Way booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. László Tar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute of the match Ben Koeling sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Konstantin Pančur skillfully saved the ball. Klemen Mikuž made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duško Turnšek in the 41st minute of play. Klemen Mikuž came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by HIT Gorica's Duško Turnšek. But to his dismay, Duško Turnšek quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. With an all-out effort, Milky Way's Konstantin Pančur threw himself towards the right post 48 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Agnaldo Ramalho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Duško Turnšek to make the kick off. Konstantin Pančur made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the HIT Gorica players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Milky Way.
