If Håkan Lang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralf Engman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddie Jansson in the 24th minute of play. Jim Jakobsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Matthias Hegg having to make a save. When Felix Stabbe fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Överturingen IF's protests and gave Felix Stabbe a yellow card for diving instead. Linus Josefsson charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Linus Josefsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Linus Josefsson kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Ralf Engman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddie Jansson in the 43rd minute of play. A collision led to IF Elfsborg getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Karl-Johan Hellström hit a great ball. After some careless play in the IF Elfsborg defense, Felix Stabbe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ralf Engman. The IF Elfsborg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ralf Engman should have stopped the shot. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The supporters of IF Elfsborg booed when Överturingen IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viktor Boman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jim Jakobsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matthias Hegg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jim Jakobsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Edvin Söderström received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ralf Engman came out and tried to block the shot, but Edvin Söderström slotted it home off the left post making it 3-3 in the 63rd minute. Ralf Engman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvin Söderström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Mårten Hasselqvist, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 74 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Matthias Hegg was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Jim Jakobsson struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Matthias Hegg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IF Elfsborg. Freddie Jansson succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-4 in the 81st playminute. 86 minutes into the game, Mårten Hasselqvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-4. Matthias Hegg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 90 played minutes Överturingen IF got a freekick which was hit by Viktor Boman. 92 minutes into the match, IF Elfsborg's goalkeeper Ralf Engman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Freddie Jansson. Freddie Jansson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Ralf Engman made a huge save. In the 100th minute, Överturingen IF's Felix Stabbe ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ralf Engman. Ralf Engman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Överturingen IF eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
