The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nils Apelqvist was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 7th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jörgen Dahlqvist scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sune Dalberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vimmerby's attentive Kasper Håkansson managed to snatch the ball when Olov Bammerman made a throw-in in the 19th minute of the game. In the 25th minute, Mehmet Fatih Oykut got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Arjan Hesseling took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Harry Nyqvist to make any attempt to save it. 32 minutes into the game, Jörgen Dahlqvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Sune Dalberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Torgny Forss charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Torgny Forss the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.

The wind increased when Jörgen Dahlqvist made the kick off in the second half. The throw-in from Jonatan Gunnarsson in the 53rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Vimmerby's Tomas Heggert. After 53 minutes, Nils Apelqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vimmerby and the Vimmerby Tigers IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Vimmerby Tigers IF booed when Vimmerby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils Apelqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Mehmet Fatih Oykut put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Harry Nyqvist. Sune Dalberg came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Vimmerby's Jörgen Dahlqvist. But to his dismay, Jörgen Dahlqvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Sune Dalberg successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Harry Nyqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mehmet Fatih Oykut in the 68th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kasper Håkansson got free with Sune Dalberg in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st minute, Jörgen Dahlqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vimmerby fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5. The crowd rose to their feet as Vimmerby's Jörgen Dahlqvist slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sune Dalberg. That made the score 2-6 after 76 minutes of play. In the 82nd minute, Mehmet Fatih Oykut got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Vimmerby Tigers IF's goalkeeper Sune Dalberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jörgen Dahlqvist. A sloppy throw-in by Jonatan Gunnarsson in the 87th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Vimmerby's Tomas Heggert. Harry Nyqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arjan Hesseling in the 92nd minute of the match. 94 minutes into the match, Jörgen Dahlqvist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sune Dalberg. Vimmerby Tigers IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jörgen Dahlqvist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-7. The Vimmerby Tigers IF supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vimmerby's performance. The match ended with a win for Vimmerby.
