After some careless play in the VfL Wolfsburg defense, Kent Berggren kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Wiberg. The VfL Wolfsburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Wiberg should have stopped the shot. David Wiberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mårten Hammarberg in the 16th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Wictor Samuelsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute, Villiam Lundin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Melker Winström was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Melker Winström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Ove Carlsson in the 33rd minute of the match. David Wiberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Ståhlman in the 35th minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Wictor Samuelsson came free, but Melker Winström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hampus Skarkman hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. AIK's Melker Winström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wictor Samuelsson in the 39th minute of play. In the 39th match minute, AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Per-Arne Lindström to maneuver through the defense. Wictor Samuelsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Melker Winström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wictor Samuelsson ran back to his position shaking his head. AIK's Melker Winström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save AIK from getting a goal against them. 45 minutes into the game, AIK's Kent Berggren nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Wiberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After the first half AIK were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kent Berggren made a kick off. Mårten Hammarberg came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and David Wiberg could save by the left post. After having played for 57 minutes, Hampus Skarkman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AIK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hampus Skarkman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to VfL Wolfsburg getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Stig Albäck hit a great ball. In the 59th minute, Mårten Hammarberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hampus Skarkman's late challenge caught a VfL Wolfsburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hampus Skarkman helped the player get up and apologised. After 60 played minutes AIK got a freekick which was hit by Hampus Skarkman. Melker Winström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wictor Samuelsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Stig Albäck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henry Ståhlman in the 71st minute of play forced VfL Wolfsburg's goalkeeper David Wiberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th match minute, VfL Wolfsburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jochem Bergmeester to maneuver through the defense. David Wiberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Ståhlman in the 77th minute of play. Karl-Ove Carlsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Melker Winström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of VfL Wolfsburg booed when AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennart Henriksson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hampus Skarkman was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of VfL Wolfsburg booed when AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hampus Skarkman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Melker Winström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Kostrzewa went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 91st minute Henry Ståhlman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Wiberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd match minute, VfL Wolfsburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Kostrzewa to maneuver through the defense.
