Dick Deckbergh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulf Östlund having to interfere. In the 94th minute Razvan Preda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulf Östlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grimsby Town FC played a much better game than AIK and deserved their victory. The AIK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
