Wiktor Berggren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manfred Giöck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Fernkvist in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Inge Möllgren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GIF Nike's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IFK Lions the free kick. If Tomas Fernkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Wiktor Berggren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfred Giöck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gert Alrot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manfred Giöck breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to GIF Nike getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Henry Kvalfält hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in GIF Nike's zone, Reine Hermansson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manfred Giöck came out of the goal and Reine Hermansson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tomas Fernkvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfred Giöck having to interfere. After the first half GIF Nike were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ove Hamberg scored 1-1 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manfred Giöck, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Svante Lövgren kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. If Reine Hermansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the match, GIF Nike's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Fernkvist came free, but Manfred Giöck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiktor Berggren in the 66th minute of play forced GIF Nike's goalkeeper Manfred Giöck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Svante Lövgren in the 71st minute of play forced IFK Lions's goalkeeper Rikard Forsberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfred Giöck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reine Hermansson in the 86th minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gert Alrot couldn't finish the play. Manfred Giöck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiktor Berggren, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. 95 minutes into the game, IFK Lions's Tomas Fernkvist nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manfred Giöck made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. GIF Nike succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though IFK Lions had controlled the match.
