Erik Ersman hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Djurgården IF's Erik Ersman got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute of the match, Malte Johansson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ingvar Isaksson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 10 minutes into the game, Sören Kullander was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Djurgården IF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Åby the free kick. The supporters of Åby booed when Djurgården IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sören Kullander didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute of the match Ernst Kling shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ingvar Isaksson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sven-Oskar Lång charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sven-Oskar Lång the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes Djurgården IF got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Oskar Lång. 17 minutes into the match, Djurgården IF's goalkeeper Ingvar Isaksson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Malte Johansson. Malte Johansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingvar Isaksson having to interfere. Lars Giöck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the match, Djurgården IF's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Giöck came free, but Ingvar Isaksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cezary Fiszer during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 55th minute, Cezary Fiszer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lars Giöck's late challenge caught a Djurgården IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lars Giöck helped the player get up and apologised. Lars Giöck kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. A collision led to Djurgården IF getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Allan Falk hit a great ball. Jens-Erik Almkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After 78 minutes of play, Åby's Lars Giöck made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ingvar Isaksson was left in no man's land by his defense there! 85 minutes into the match, Djurgården IF's goal looked a bit too open when Malte Johansson came free, but Ingvar Isaksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 86 played minutes Djurgården IF got a freekick which was hit by Erik Ersman. Djurgården IF's Ingvar Isaksson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malte Johansson in the 90th minute of play. Ingvar Isaksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Giöck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johnny Nordlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Strömberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Åby were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Djurgården IF for a fine match.
